And then Life...again
This week has seen the Environment and immediate action that is needed in order to sustain life on this planet has been put to the forefront.
The release of the Stern report to the British Government reveals the impending disaster if we as a civilisation do not act.
Most people seem to live with their heads in the sand. They continually disagree with the facts even when they are living out right in front of our eyes.
Here in Sydney, our water supply has gone below 40% leaving us with about four years left of water with most of it considered undrinkable. Today a study published in the US and Canadian version of Nature magazine reveals that if the current fishing practises continue we will see within the next fifty years the decimation of all fish species. That's right no more fish in the oceans.
Sounds kind of doomsdayish but what if that really was the case?
Nations governements turn a blind eye or consider that if we are to really act then their hip pockets will be affected so let's leave it a little bit longer. Not seeing that with every innaction there are consequences to follow.
I remember as a kid in science class how they explained to us the Greenhouse effect and how in the future we might not be able to go outside as the temperatures would be high and the radiation levels from the sun would affect us. It all seemed like it was so remote. Like it was in the far distant future where somehow we surely wouldnt let it get to that stage.
Did you know that the Atlantic current actually stopped for ten days in October 2004? What does this mean if it again stops and the next time for longer periods of time? Remember the movie "The Day After Tomorrow"? All sounds weird and whacky but it is actually happening right in front of our eyes.
You might have noticed I've deleted my last posts on this blog. There is so much going on with me at the moment and Im changing the focus. I think it is really important to put out there some issues that are really important to me, to make them more conscious in the consciousness of the people who drop by here so that maybe we all can start to make a difference in this world.

You shouldn't have deleted your posts Cesco, I learned the hard way you can never get them back.
Call me soon mate.

The environment is a Top News Maker here in Canada as well the U.S. A very important topic to be discussing - if the world does nothing, we are all doomed.
Never delete a post, save to draft is always best, unless of course you want it to disappear.
Glad to see you up and around. Hope you are well.

Sometimes I'm so ashamed of living in the US, with our dumb fuck head in the ass president. Nice post.

Those are very good issues and I do my bit here and there but it's so scary to think what is to come. :S
Oh darling...
You've no idea how heavy this has been lying on my own heart.
I actually went to see the children't movie Happy Feet with my son... And was so thrilled that while its a kids' movie... It teaches a lesson that entwines you with the plight of our environment.
Silly I know... But such steps will hopefully catch the eyes too. And the hearts.
((hugs))
Miss you and I know I've been a lax commentor/blog friend.
Gosh I've missed you. I couldn't find your blog and became worried that I wouldn't find it again. Very happy to see this courtesy of Jim's blog.
I'm happy to read you again and hope that you are well.
